My name is Mel.

In 2011, at just 22 years old, I developed debilitating bladder pain and constant urinary urgency. I was using the bathroom more than 60 times a day and living in constant pain. Over the next two years, I saw multiple doctors and tried countless medications and procedures, but nothing helped. In fact, many of the treatments made my symptoms even worse.

Eventually, I began exploring a more holistic approach. I noticed that my symptoms improved during my menstrual cycle and seemed to flare after drinking spinach smoothies. Those patterns made me realize there was more to my condition than I had been told.

Over time, through changes in nutrition and regular exercise, I found moderate relief. Although I still experienced mild symptoms from time to time, I was able to reclaim my life. I never received clear answers or felt like I got the support I needed, but life moved forward—and for years, I was mostly pain-free.

Then, at 34, everything changed.

For nearly two years beforehand, I had been experiencing a growing list of strange symptoms: nervous system issues, unexplained allergies, insomnia, burning feet, a burning tongue, and other symptoms that didn't seem to fit together. Around the same time, my bladder pain slowly returned. Then one day, I found myself right back where I had been in 2011—caught in the exhausting cycle of doctor appointments without answers, feeling unheard, overwhelmed, and living with debilitating pain and urgency.

But this time, I knew healing was possible. I'd done it once before.

So I went back to the basics: I exercised, focused on nourishing my body, and paid close attention to the patterns my body was trying to show me. What I discovered was both frustrating and empowering.

While the medical care available in my small rural town hadn't changed much in over a decade, the research had. The answers to my pain were out there. The science existed. The challenge was finding it, understanding it, and figuring out how to apply it to my own healing journey.

Through years of trial and error, the same patterns I had recognized in my 20s began to reappear. This time, however, I also uncovered new patterns that allowed me to personalize my holistic approach and give my body the support it needed to heal.

I still don't have all the answers, but at 37, I understand my body far better than I did at 22. And I want to share what I've learned with other women who may be struggling to find answers of their own.

My experience has taught me that bladder and hip pain are often not caused by a single problem, but by a complex combination of factors that create the perfect storm—trapping the body in a cycle of pain and dysfunction. The encouraging part is that when you begin addressing those contributing factors, the body has an incredible capacity to heal. It is always working toward balance. Given the right tools, nourishment, movement, and support, the mind and body can begin to restore themselves.

My mission is to empower women of all ages living with bladder and hip pain to take back control of their lives, because I've walked that road—twice. Today, I feel even healthier and stronger than I did in my 20s. I know that healing is possible. Reducing symptoms and living a full, meaningful life is absolutely achievable, but it requires patience, consistency, and a willingness to look beyond quick fixes.

Through Wobbles & Whimsy, I hope to create a space where women can slow down, reconnect with their bodies, feel heard, and find the knowledge and support they need to heal from the inside out. Whether you're just beginning your journey or have been searching for answers for years, I want you to know you're not alone.
